AURORA, crepusculum, twilight; that faint light which begins to appear in a morning, when the sun is within eighteen degrees of the horizon. See CREPUSCULUM and TWILIGHT. The poets have personified, and even made it a goddess; representing her with a chariot, rosy fingers, etc. Nicod. derives the word, ab oriente sole quia aer aurescit.
