ARABICK, ARABICUS, was also a title or denomination of honor, was given to Emperor Severus; on account of his conquering Arabia and reducing it into the form of a Roman Province. See TIME, and PROVINCE. On the reverse of some medals of that Emperor, we read PARTHIC. ARABIC. ADIAB, COS. II PP. and sometimes PARTH. ARAB. PARTH. ADIAB.
That is, Parthicus, Arabicus, Adiabenicus, etc., doubtless because he overcame the Parthians in Arabia and Adiabene, and took from them those two provinces.
