ANTI, in matters of Literature, are Pieces written by way of Answer, to others, whose Names are usually annexed to the Title. See the Anti of M. Baillet; and the Anti-Baillet of M. Menage. There are also Anti-Menagiana, etc. Caesar the Dictator wrote two Books by way of Answer to what had been objected to him by Cato; which he called Anti-Catones; mentioned by Juvenal, Cicero, etc. Vives assures us, he had seen Caesar’s Anti-Catones in an ancient Library.
