ANTHRACOSIS, a Disease of the Eyes, occasioned by a corrosive Ulcer, covered with Skin, and attended with a general Swelling, especially of the Parts about the Eye. See EYE and ULCER.
The Word is Greek ἄνθρακωσις, and denotes an Inflammation resembling a Coal; ἄνθραξ signifying a Coal. See ANTHRAX.
