ALVUS, among Anatomists, is sometimes used to express the intestinal Tube, from the Stomach to the Anus. See INTESTINES.
Alvus, in a Medicinal Sense, is taken for the State, and Condition of the Feces, or Excrements contained within that Cavity. See EXCREMENT, etc. Thus, when a Person is laxative, it is called Alvus liquida; and when costive, Aluus adstricta. See COSTIVE, LAXATIVE, etc.
