ALBUMEN Ovi, the white of an Egg. See EGG.
It is used in Medicine, as being of a glutinous or binding Nature, on which Account it is often mixed with Bole Armeniac, &c. to prevent any strained Part from rising into a Tumor, and restore it to its Tone or Elasticity:—It is also an Ingredient in some Mixtures for consolidating fresh Wounds, and preventing too great a Loss of Blood.
