AUGUSTALIA, in antiquity, a feast instituted in honor of the Emperor Augustus. See FEAST. This festival was first established after he had ended all his wars, and settled the affairs of Sicily, Greece, Asia, Syria, and the Parthians—The day whereon he made his entry into Rome, was appointed to be kept as a feast; and was called Augustalis. See AUGUSTALIS. Augustalia was also a name given to the games celebrated in honor of the same prince, on the 4th of the Ides of October. See GAME. See also AUGUSTALIS.
