ASYNDETON

ASYNDETON, a Figure in Grammar, implying a defect or want of Conjunctions in a Sentence. See FIGURE and CON- JUNCTION.
As, in the Instance, Veni, Vidi, Vici, I came; I saw, I conquered; where the Copulative et, and, is omitted. The Word is derived from the privative α, and σύνδεσμος, I bind together.
Asyndeton stands opposed to Polysyndeton. See POLYSYNDETON.
