APERTIONS, in Architecture, are the Openings in a Building; as Doors, Windows, Stair-cases, Chimneys, Outlets and Inlets for Light, Smoke, etc. See BUILDING. See also DOOR, WINDOW, etc. The apertions should be as few as may be; it being a Rule that all Openings are Weakenings.
